As one moves around the world from East (right) to West (left) one gains in time. Locations situated West of Hong Kong, but East of the International Date Line, are always behind Hong Kong on any give day. Just how much behind can be measured along the time-line indicated below.

These differences in time can be exploited by EARTH to the author-client's advantage. Translators and proofreaders located in East Asia can be preparing work for North American and European clients who are still sleeping. European translators and proofreaders have a similar but smaller advantage with regard to North and South American author-clients.
