Note 1: In 1990 foreign
non-residents accounted for only 10 percent of Singapore's population.
In 2002 they accounted for just under 20 percent (19%).

Note 2: Residents include citizens
and non-citizens who have earned permanent status. Non-residents are
non-citizens without permanent status.
